A water-electric integrated defrost unit (or a liquid-electric integrated radiator) is a composite defrosting/heating device that combines liquid circulation heating (usually using engine coolant) and a PTC electric heating element. Its principle is to use the engine coolant temperature for initial heat exchange; if insufficient, the PTC instant heating module is activated for rapid heating, and a forced-fan fan enables rapid defrosting and heating. It is commonly used in gasoline-powered vehicles or new energy vehicles.

Working Principle

This device generates hot air through the coordinated operation of two heat sources, which is then blown towards the glass or interior by a fan:

 

Water Heating Component (Liquid):

 

Utilizes the waste heat from the circulating coolant in the car engine. The high-temperature coolant flows through the internal liquid radiator, and the cool air blown by the fan absorbs the heat from the water, becoming hot air.

 

Electric Heating Component (Electric):

 

Features a built-in PTC electric heating element. During initial vehicle startup, when the water temperature is low, or in extremely cold environments, the PTC quickly generates heat, exchanging heat with the air through its fins to compensate for the insufficient heat from the water heating system.

 

Coordinated Operation Mode:

 

The two heat sources can automatically switch or operate simultaneously based on the water temperature. Once the target water temperature is reached, the electric heating can reduce its power or be turned off to save energy.

PTC electric heating components are equipped with two-stage thermostat (90 degree normally closed thermostat connected in series with 150 degree manual reset thermostat)

Wind control mode: high-speed fan, high-speed line and low-speed line colleagues connected to DC24V; low-speed fan, low-speed line connected to DC24V
Lead length outside the shell: 500mm±50mm

 

The outer loop filter is welded in the middle of the bottom surface
 

The electrical connector adopts a waterproof connector, and the wiring harness end of the connector is equipped with a dust-proof sheath
 

Electrical wires should have flame-retardant properties and good insulation properties, and use flame-retardant wires with a temperature resistance of not less than 125°C.
