Products Description

This PTC electric heater is suitable for pure electric/hybrid/fuel cell vehicles, mainly as the main heat source for in-vehicle temperature regulation. This PTC electric heater is suitable for the vehicle's driving mode and parking mode. During the heating process, the PTC element effectively converts electrical energy into thermal energy, so this product has a faster heating effect than an internal combustion engine. At the same time, it can also be used for battery temperature regulation (heating to operating temperature) and the starting load of the fuel cell.
This PTC electric heater adopts PTC technology to meet the safety requirements of passenger cars for high voltage. In addition, it can also meet the relevant environmental protection requirements of engine compartment components.

Products design principles

WPTC electric heater consists of PTC heating components, a controller, and internal pipes.
The heating components are installed in an integrated brazed water tank, and the coolant flows through the high-precision manifold in the brazed water tank to achieve heat absorption and circulation.
The controller circuit board is fixed in the injection molded housing with screws, and the connector is directly connected to the circuit board.

The control unit samples the current and voltage of the high-voltage circuit through a shunt and a sampling resistor, respectively, to realize abnormal work protection.
A TVS transient suppression diode is provided at the inlet of the low-voltage power supply to effectively prevent surges. A high-frequency isolation transformer is used to provide auxiliary power for the high-voltage side.
The information, communication, and exchange between high and low voltage control units is carried out through digital isolators. The input auxiliary power supply has a current limiting protection function. Temperature sensors NCT_A and NTC_B are provided at the water inlet and outlet respectively for real-time detection of coolant temperature and timely protection in case of excessive temperature.

Battery Preheating:
In a low-temperature environment, the battery performance and range will be reduced. A 20kW electric heater can preheat the battery pack, so that it can work within the appropriate temperature range, prolonging the battery life and improving performance.
Battery heat preservation:
During vehicle travel or charging, it continuously insulates the battery pack, reduces heat loss from the battery, maintains its efficient working condition, and improves the stability and safety of the battery.
Battery Thermal Equalisation:
In a battery pack, the temperature of each cell may be inconsistent. The electric heater can work with the battery management system to heat the cells with lower temperatures to achieve temperature equalisation within the battery pack and optimise the overall performance of the battery.

Co-operation:
Integration with the cooling system, air conditioning system, etc. intelligently adjusts the heating power and coolant flow according to the vehicle operating conditions and ambient temperature, optimising the thermal management of the whole vehicle and improving energy efficiency and stability.
