Scope of application

This PTC electric heater is suitable for electric/hybrid/fuel cell vehicles, mainly as the main heat source for in-vehicle temperature regulation. This PTC electric heater is suitable for both vehicle driving mode and parking mode. During the heating process, electrical energy is effectively converted into thermal energy by the PTC component, so this product has a faster heating effect than the internal combustion engine. At the same time, it can also be used for battery temperature regulation (heating to operating temperature) and fuel cell starting load.

This PTC electric heater uses PTC technology to meet the safety requirements of passenger cars for high voltage. In addition, it can also meet the relevant environmental requirements of components in the engine compartment.

The purpose of the PTC electric heater in the application is to replace the engine block as the main heat source. It is to heat the PTC heating component by supplying power to the PTC heating group, and heat the medium in the heating system circulation pipeline through heat exchange.

Design principle

The WPTC electric heater consists of a PTC heating component, a controller, and internal pipes. The heating component is installed in an integrated brazed water tank, and the coolant flows through the high-precision collector to achieve heat absorption and circulation.

The controller circuit board is fixed in the injection molded shell with screws, and the connector is directly connected to the circuit board.

The control unit uses a shunt and a sampling resistor to realize the current and voltage sampling of the high-voltage circuit, respectively, to facilitate abnormal operation protection.

There is a TVS at the power supply entrance of the low-voltage part to effectively prevent surges, and an auxiliary power supply is provided to the high-voltage side through a high-frequency isolation transformer. The high and low-voltage control units communicate and exchange information through a digital isolator. The input auxiliary power supply part has a limited current protection function. The temperature sensors NCT_A and NTC_B located at the water inlet and outlet are used to detect the temperature of the coolant in real-time and provide timely protection when the temperature is too high.
