How much do you know about RV air conditioning and summer
RV maintenance methods?
Classification of RV air conditioning
RV air conditioning is generally divided into two categories: driving air conditioning and parking air conditioning. They can be distinguished by the name. One is used for RV driving, and the other is used after arriving at the camping site.
Generally used for self-propelled RVs, that is, the air conditioning used by the chassis part during vehicle driving. Generally speaking, the engine needs to provide power directly during driving, and the method of use is the same as the air conditioning on ordinary family cars.
In the parking state, the driving air conditioning cannot be used for a long time, which will cause excessive carbon monoxide concentration in the car and suffocation. In addition, the cooling effect of the driving air conditioning is poor in the idling state. When the cockpit is connected to the residential area, the original car factory is generally equipped with a rear air conditioning evaporator to better ensure the cooling effect.
As the name implies, when the RV arrives at the destination, the air conditioning with a stable power supply will be used. According to the installation position, it can be divided into top air conditioning and bottom air conditioning; according to the function, it can be divided into heating and cooling air conditioning and single cooling air conditioning; according to the type of air conditioning, it can be divided into household air conditioning and RV-specific air conditioning; the power supply type can be divided into 12V, 24V, and 220V air conditioning.
Advantages and disadvantages of various parking air conditioners
Top air conditioners are easier to replace and maintain than bottom air conditioners, and the cost is lower. Generally speaking, the external machine is installed outside the car, and the internal machine is installed on the roof. But the indoor opportunity will bring corresponding noise.
Bottom air conditioners are generally hidden under the bed in the RV or at the bottom of the booth sofa. All we can see is an air outlet, and the air outlet ducts are all hidden in the car, so the installation is more complicated and the overall cost is higher. But the overall noise is relatively small, and the cold air can be quickly transported to various areas through the pipe, which can achieve a rapid cooling effect.
The advantages and disadvantages of household air conditioners and RV-specific air conditioners are that household air conditioners have good cooling effect, low noise, and energy saving, but they occupy a large space. The seismic resistance level of household air conditioners cannot meet the driving requirements of vehicles. After long-term use, the air conditioning components of the vehicle are loose and deformed, which poses a great hidden danger to the safety of users' lives and property.
RV-specific air conditioners are designed for mobile RVs, and are specially designed to avoid driving vibration and impurity invasion to ensure safety. The disadvantages are high noise and high power consumption.

Power supply problem of parking air conditioners
Parking air conditioners cannot use the power of the car's auxiliary battery. At present, the commonly used safety secondary battery for RVs is a maintenance-free lead-acid battery. A 100kg 300kg AH lead-acid battery can only use air conditioning for 3 hours. High-power parking air conditioning will cause the battery to over-discharge, and over-discharge will directly scrap the battery. Because the battery is too heavy, it also occupies the space of the car. Excessive increase in battery capacity will reduce vehicle performance and is not advisable.
Although the iron-lithium battery is light, excessive discharge and impact will cause explosions, posing a safety hazard to vehicle personnel.
Precautions for cooling and maintenance of RVs in summer
Due to the high temperature in summer, the tire rubber is easy to soften, and it will burst in severe cases. Therefore, during driving, the tire pressure should be checked at any time. If the tire is found to be overheated and the air pressure is too high, the car should be parked in a cool place to cool. Do not rinse or exhaust with cold water, otherwise it will cause early damage to the tires and tires on the road.
Due to the high temperature in summer, the heat dissipation speed is limited, the car is slow, the engine speed is high, and the heat dissipation is difficult, and driving resistance is prone to occur, making the engine sometimes difficult to start after stopping for a few minutes. Once resistance occurs, the driver should stop cooling immediately to eliminate the fault. If your car has hydraulic brakes, when driving at high temperature and high speed, the brake fluid is prone to air resistance, causing sudden brake failure and causing accidents.
When driving in hot weather, the water in the water tank evaporates faster. Always pay attention to check the cooling water volume and water temperature gauge. If you find that there is a lack of water, you should stop immediately, but you should not add water immediately. Instead, you should add water after idling and cooling, and be careful not to open the radiator cap immediately to prevent scalding.
Lubricating oil is easily diluted by heat, has poor oxidation resistance, is easy to deteriorate, and even causes failures such as burning tiles and seizing shafts. Therefore, the crankcase and gearbox should be replaced in summer, and the quantity and quality of lubricating oil should be checked frequently and replaced in time.
When using the air conditioner for the first time in summer, first check the air conditioning system, such as whether the refrigerant and air conditioning filter are too dirty, whether there are foreign objects in the radiator, etc. The normal use method is to turn off the air conditioning switch after operating for 2-5 minutes. 5 It can be restarted after a few minutes. When using the air conditioner in summer, the air conditioning filter should be replaced or cleaned in time to ensure the freshness and hygiene of the air in the car.
If the vehicle is parked for a long time under the scorching sun, do not use the air conditioner immediately after starting it. First open all windows, start the external circulation, exhaust the heat, then close the windows and turn on the air conditioner.
The car should be cleaned frequently in summer to prevent rain from acid corrosion to the car paint. The paint should also be treated with certain prevention and protection, such as waxing and glazing. Glazing is a more basic paint treatment method than waxing. It acts directly on the paint to form a bright protective film and improve the hardness of the paint.
Internal cleaning should not be ignored either. Internal cleaning includes: cleaning and disinfection of parts such as ceilings, doors, carpets, etc.; cleaning and lighting of dashboards, steering wheels, and gear parts; disinfection of air ducts and trunks, odor treatment, etc.
