PTC application prospect analysis
For pure electric vehicles, PTC air heating is generally used. This method only needs to replace the traditional automobile air conditioner heater core with PTC air heater, and then supplemented with necessary control equipment, it can be directly applied to electric vehicles.
Plug-in hybrid electric vehicles generally use PTC water heaters. In this way, the traditional car air conditioner heater core is connected in series with the PTC water heater. The warm air core is heated to increase the temperature of the outlet air and blow it directly into the car to realize the heating function in the car.
However, PTC heating consumes a lot of power battery during heating in winter, which seriously shortens the driving range of electric vehicles. Therefore, many current solutions use heat pump systems to achieve air-conditioning heating, and the thermal efficiency can be significantly improved.
At present, the status quo of air conditioning system solutions for electric vehicles in China is as follows: the system design is relatively simple. On the one hand, it is affected by technology. The more complex the system, the more difficult it is to optimize the control. It is in the stage of research and early application; on the other hand, the complexity of the system will also lead to an increase in cost.
Comparing the air-conditioning system solutions of key models at home and abroad, it is concluded that: In terms of air-conditioning and heating, the development of domestic electric vehicles is mostly based on the transformation of traditional vehicles, so most of them use PTC to heat the coolant for the development of air-conditioning systems . So PTC liquid heater is the main solution all the time. However, with the extensive use of electronic control technology in thermal management, the development of electric vehicle thermal management will pay more attention to the overall characteristics of electric vehicles, and the joint design of thermal management and drive system thermal management will become a key trend in the future.
