New energy vehicles (NEMs) are a type of transport that has developed rapidly in recent years, and the battery system it carries is one of its most critical components. With the continuous development of battery technology, the range of new energy vehicles has been greatly improved, however, the battery also faces some challenges, such as long charging time, short life, low safety and other problems. This requires us to make more efforts on the thermal management of batteries.

 

Thermal management of new energy vehicle batteries mainly includes two aspects: battery cooling and heating. Cooling is to avoid safety hazards caused by overheating of the battery, and heating is to improve the efficiency of the battery and extend its life. In these two aspects, electric heaters play a very important role.

 

First of all, electric heaters play a vital role in the heating of batteries. In a low-temperature environment, the working efficiency of the battery decreases significantly, and the use of electric heaters can heat the battery to the appropriate temperature, improve the discharge efficiency of the battery, increase the range and extend the service life of the battery. In addition, the working principle of the electric heater is to convert electrical energy into thermal energy, through the heating of the battery, the temperature inside the battery is more uniform, reducing the temperature difference of the battery, thus further improving the performance of the battery.

 

Secondly, electric heaters also play a very important role in battery cooling. Under high-temperature environment, the heat generated inside the battery will cause the battery to overheat, thus affecting the service life and safety of the battery. The electric heater can generate heat by consuming the electrical energy of the battery, increase the speed of battery cooling, effectively reduce the temperature of the battery, and protect the safety and stability of the battery.

 

In summary, the thermal management of new energy vehicle batteries is crucial to guarantee the safety and improve the reliability of the battery. Electric heaters play an important role in thermal management, which can improve the efficiency of the battery and extend the service life of the battery. In the future, we need to further develop new electric heating technologies to continuously improve the thermal management efficiency and safety of batteries and promote the sustainable development of new energy vehicles.
