Water Pump Application Locations and
Functions in Automobiles

1. Drive System Cooling (Electric Vehicles)
Location: The main drive electric water pump is typically installed near the motor and electronic control system, connected through complex piping to form a coolant circulation network.
Purpose: The motor and electronic control system, as the power core of an electric vehicle, generate considerable heat during operation. The main drive electric water pump continuously circulates coolant, dissipating heat and transferring it to the radiator for dissipation. It acts as a "dedicated heat dissipation guard" for the power system, ensuring smooth operation and preventing power interruptions or component damage due to overheating.

2. Battery Thermal Management System
Location: A dedicated electric water pump for battery cooling is typically located near the battery pack and closely connected to the cooling pipes within the battery module.
Purpose: It constantly monitors battery temperature and immediately activates if the temperature exceeds the appropriate range, circulating coolant between the battery modules to precisely dissipate heat, maintain battery activity and stability, extend battery life, and ensure that the electric vehicle's range is not affected by high temperatures.

3. Heating System (Electric Vehicles)
Location: The auxiliary water pump is located near the heat exchanger associated with the heat pump air conditioning system, connecting the battery thermal management system to the air conditioning and heating components.
Purpose: When the vehicle's heating is activated in cold weather, the auxiliary water pump accelerates coolant circulation, assisting the heat pump in extracting heat from the low ambient temperature and efficiently converting it into warm air inside the vehicle. This improves interior comfort while avoiding excessive battery consumption for heating, thereby optimizing vehicle energy efficiency.
