Product Description
The performance, safety, and lifespan of new energy vehicle (NEV) power batteries are highly dependent on operating temperature. The Battery Thermal Management Unit (BTMU) is a critical system component designed to maintain the battery pack within the optimal operating temperature range (-40℃~+50℃). It integrates cooling, heating, and temperature balancing functions, effectively preventing battery performance degradation, thermal runaway, and extending battery service life. Our BTMU is engineered for various NEV types, including pure electric vehicles (BEVs), plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEVs), and commercial electric vehicles, providing stable and efficient thermal management solutions.
Working principle
The solid red line in the figure represents the refrigeration cycle, and the dashed blue line represents the coolant cycle. This unit has three modes,including cooling mode, heating mode, and self-circulation mode. The unit switches between these three modes based on the parameters feedback from the battery pack BMS.

Cooling mode
The fan and compressor are turned on, and the high-temperature and high-pressure refrigerant is discharged from the compressor, entering the condenser for heat release and cooling. Then, it is throttled and depressurized through a thermal expansion valve for cooling. The low-pressure and low-temperature refrigerant enters the battery cooler and exchanges heat with the high-temperature coolant flowing out of the battery pack. The refrigerant absorbs heat and enters the compressor suction port, completing a refrigeration cycle. At the same time, the high-temperature coolant flowing out of the battery pack outlet passes through the water pump and flows through the chiller to obtain cooling, forming a low-temperature coolant that enters the battery pack inlet to cool the battery and complete a water circuit cycle.
Heating mode
The fan and compressor are turned off, the water pump and electric heater are turned on, and the low-temperature coolant is heated by the electric heater before flowing through the chiller and entering the battery pack to heat the battery.
Self-Circulation mode
The compressor and electric heater are turned off, the electronic water pump and fan are turned on, and the coolant circulates between the thermal management unit and the battery pack to remove the heat from the battery pack.
