EHPS Electric Passenger Car Steering Pump

The electric power steering system (EHPS) is a core component of modern automotive steering technology. It replaces traditional hydraulic power steering with electric drive, providing drivers with more efficient and flexible steering assistance.

Unlike traditional hydraulic steering pumps, which rely on engine belt drive, the EPS system consists of an electronic control unit (ECU), an electric power assist motor, and sensors. The ECU accurately calculates the required power assist based on vehicle speed, steering angle, and other data. It then drives the electric motor to generate the corresponding assist torque, making steering operation effortless and precise.

This technology offers multiple advantages: First, it significantly improves energy efficiency, consuming electricity only during steering, reducing engine load compared to a continuously running hydraulic pump and achieving fuel savings of approximately 3%-5%. Second, the power assist characteristic intelligently adjusts with vehicle speed, providing a light and flexible steering at low speeds and a stable and safe steering at high speeds. Furthermore, by eliminating components such as hydraulic pumps and piping, the EPS system is more compact and easier to maintain.

Currently, EPS has been widely adopted in various passenger vehicles, becoming a key technology for improving driving quality and energy efficiency, and environmental performance, representing the mainstream development direction of automotive steering systems. With the development of intelligent driving technology, the EPS system, due to its rapid electronic response characteristics, provides an ideal execution basis for advanced functions such as lane keeping and automatic parking.
