PTC heater is composed of PTC ceramic heating element and aluminum tube. The PTC heating element has small thermal resistance, high heat transfer efficiency of 99%, good safety, and will not overheat under any application conditions. Used in combination with the fan, that is, when the fan fails to stop, the power of the PTC heater will automatically drop sharply due to insufficient heat dissipation, which will not cause safety problems caused by continuous high-power heating. PTC has a long service life; wide voltage range, designed according to the battery system voltage; power can be designed according to demand; flame retardant.

 

When in use, an aluminum heating plate can be added between different cells in the battery module, and the heating plate is connected to the PTC heater to heat the battery pack, but attention should be paid to the insulation between the heating plate and the battery. When working, the heating plate can also be used for heat dissipation of the battery. The PTC heater can be used as a separate heating device in combination with a fan to form hot air circulation, or it can be made into a plate shape to heat the battery pack. Its cost is low and it has been widely used in battery packs.

 

However, the PTC heater has a large volume and is made into a plate with a thickness of more than 10 mm, so it cannot be directly sandwiched between batteries or battery modules. It is usually made into a plate and installed at the bottom of the battery box or between the battery modules; when multiple PTC heaters are used together, they should be connected in parallel, not in series, and attention should be paid to matching the voltage and current of the battery pack/charger; different heat dissipation conditions make The heating power of PTC heaters varies greatly, and the stable power is related to the use conditions. The power of the same PTC heater may vary several times under different use conditions. The faster the heat dissipation, the greater the stable power, and the higher the surface temperature of the PTC. The higher the power, the aluminum plate with fast heat conduction is used, or the fan is used to blow the heater directly in the hot air circulation for convection heat dissipation.
