1.The Working Principle of Electric Heater
Figure 1 shows the configurations of the vehicle-heating systems. EV and PHEV both use hot water heated with a PTC heater instead of high-temperature coolant heated with engine waste heat. The hot water is circulated with an electric water pump.
Compared with an air heater, the hot water heater offers the following advantages:
(1) For safety’s sake, the high-voltage heating unit is located outside the occupant’s compartment.
(2) The heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) module of the base vehicle can be used
to reduce the development cost.

2.The Functions and Characteristics of PTC
PTC can be used as a ceramic heater element for automobiles to start at low temperatures. It can be made into different structural types: branch tube type and flat disc type. The result of this is that the thermal efficiency generated by PTC can be fully utilized. These two The model has simple structure, small size and easy installation.
Generally, they are directly fixed on the inner wall of the vaporization chamber. The gasoline in the vaporization chamber is directly heated in the vaporization chamber, causing its temperature to rise rapidly, thereby improving the fuel combustion and gasification effect, which is beneficial to the car in low-temperature environments. It can start normally, reduce the pollution caused by automobile exhaust gas, and reduce the amount of oil used to reduce fuel consumption.
Since the temperature PTC thermistor element has automatic control and constant temperature heating characteristics, and this type of PTC heater element works in a non-contact action state when controlling the temperature, it is very suitable for use in cars with constantly changing conditions in extreme wave environments.
