The integrated electric heating and cooling defroster is a dedicated thermal management unit designed for the driver's cabins of new energy city buses and long-distance coaches. Compatible with the vehicle's high-voltage architecture, it operates in coordination with the vehicle's Battery Thermal Management System (BTMS), electronic water pumps, and electronic three-way valves. By integrating defrosting, defogging, heating, and cooling functions, it overcomes the limitations of traditional heating-only defrosters-such as susceptibility to fogging in rainy weather and the inability to provide cooling in summer-thereby ensuring clear visibility through the windshield and a comfortable environment in the driver's cabin.

The unit integrates a high-voltage PTC heating core, a cooling evaporator, a high-airflow brushless fan, and an electronically controlled air damper actuator. It operates via a 24V low-voltage control system and is powered by the high-voltage traction battery. It supports both local panel control and CAN-J1939 vehicle bus communication, allowing for integration into the vehicle's thermal management system for centralized control.

 

In freezing winter conditions, the electronically controlled damper switches to heating mode; the PTC element rapidly generates high-temperature air, directing a high-volume airflow across the entire windshield to quickly melt ice, raise the glass surface temperature, and prevent frost reformation. Defrosting functions normally even when the vehicle is parked and charging, without relying on residual engine heat. During the rainy season or in humid, overcast weather, the unit activates its cooling circuit to cool the air and condense out moisture via the evaporator; the resulting dry, reheated airflow is then directed at the glass to eliminate fogging at the source. In summer, the unit can output cool air to lower the temperature in the driving area, preventing window condensation caused by temperature differentials between the interior and exterior.
