Electric Air Conditioning Compressor

Electric Air Conditioning Compressor

The electric air conditioning compressor is a core component of the thermal management system in new energy vehicles. Unlike compressors in internal combustion engine vehicles-which rely on engine belt drives-this unit is powered directly by the vehicle's high-voltage power supply. It utilizes a built-in permanent magnet synchronous motor to independently drive a scroll mechanism, ensuring continuous operation whether the vehicle is driving, idling, or charging. Widely used in new energy buses, commercial vehicles, and construction machinery, it serves both the cabin air conditioning and the battery thermal management system (BTMS).

Its core operating principle involves the motor driving a scroll plate in a continuous orbital motion, compressing low-temperature, low-pressure gaseous refrigerant into high-temperature, high-pressure gas to drive the refrigerant circulation loop. Utilizing variable-frequency speed control technology, the compressor dynamically adjusts its speed based on vehicle demand to precisely match cooling output; this avoids the energy waste associated with the frequent start-stop cycles of traditional fixed-displacement compressors, thereby effectively conserving vehicle power.

It performs a dual function: first, it provides a cooling source for the cabin air conditioning, working with an integrated heating/cooling defroster to dehumidify and cool the air, effectively preventing window fogging; second, it provides cooling for the battery thermal management system, dissipating heat during fast charging or high-load operations to maintain battery cell temperatures within a safe range. In heat pump mode, the compressor can extract heat from ambient air to preheat the cabin and battery in cold conditions, significantly reducing power consumption from PTC heaters and extending the vehicle's driving range in low-temperature environments.

The product features an integrated drive controller with multiple protection mechanisms-including over-voltage, under-voltage, overload, and locked-rotor protection. It operates with minimal vibration and noise, ensuring reliability under complex conditions such as road vibrations and extreme temperatures. It supports CAN bus communication, enabling intelligent, coordinated control through integration with the vehicle's VCU (Vehicle Control Unit) and BMS (Battery Management System). Interface and voltage specifications can be customized to meet the requirements of various vehicle models.

As a critical actuator within the thermal management system, the electric air conditioning compressor is far more than a simple A/C part; it serves as the core component for heat transfer across the vehicle. Balancing passenger comfort, driving safety, and battery protection, it is an indispensable element of new energy commercial vehicles.
